Stephen Robinson aims "to keep building" after signing a new deal as St Mirren manager that ties him to the club until 2028.
Assistant Brian Kerr has also agreed a new contract.
Robinson, 50, took over at the Buddies in 2022 and has overseen top-six finishes in the past three seasons.
"We want to keep going, we want to keep building," said the former Motherwell manager. "We feel that we're right at the start again of another process. It's exciting.
"It's tough, it's always a tough job. But we believe with everybody together, everybody, I always use the phrase, it makes the boat go forward.
"I still have the same enthusiasm for the job that I had when I first took it. That hasn't changed."
Robinson feels "even more determined to try and be successful" but says is "a realist as well".
"What we have to try and do is make sure we achieve things more often than what was being done previously," he explained.
"The first time in nearly 40 years we were in Europe and 38 years in the top six. All those kind of stats have been spread out over the last three years.
"We have to build an infrastructure and a team process that allows that to happen a lot more often. Our aims are to try and give that stability and to be in the top six a lot more often than we have been previously."
Chairman John Needham commented: "We're thrilled that Stephen has extended his contract and committed his future at St Mirren for another year.
"The progress we have made as a club over the past few years has been clear to see and Stephen and his coaching team have played a large part in that.
"We want to keep building on the successes of the last three seasons and agreeing this new contract evidences our ambition as a club to continue that progression."
St Mirren, who drew at home to Motherwell in last Saturday's Scottish Premiership match, host Hearts in this coming Saturday's Premier Sports Cup tie.
