Man seriously injured after tractor falls off bridge on to motorway

A man has been seriously injured after his tractor fell off a bridge and on to the M20.

South East Coast Ambulance Service said it was called to a collision involving a tractor and a lorry on the A227 overbridge near Wrotham at 11.20am.

The tractor fell on to the central reservation between junctions two and three of the M20 after the crash.

The driver of the tractor was airlifted to King's College Hospital with serious injuries.

Multiple ambulance crews, a critical care paramedic and the air ambulance attended the scene alongside Kent police and fire services.

Kent Police said emergency services remain at the scene to deal with the incident, leaving the M20 and A227 closed.

Large queues formed on either side of the overbridge following the collision.

National Highways said all traffic caught within the ongoing closure - between junction three in Addington and junction one in Swanley - has since been released.

Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes and to allow extra journey time if travelling in the area.
