A businessman has admitted to sending grossly offensive emails to MP Suella Braverman.
Jagjivan Ram, 65, pleaded guilty to two charges under the Malicious Communications Act at Birmingham Magistrates' Court and was ordered not to contact Braverman, a former Home Secretary, before a sentencing hearing on 22 April.
The two charges stated that he sent emails on separate dates in June 2024 to Braverman, then the Conservative MP for MP for Fareham and Waterlooville in Hampshire, which were "of an indecent or grossly offensive nature for the purpose of causing distress or anxiety" to the recipient.
Ram, from Waste Lane, Balsall Common, near Solihull, was given bail.
Braverman defected from the Conservatives to Reform UK last month.
The facts of the case were not opened by prosecutor David Devine and the content of the emails was not disclosed.
Ram addressed the court after his pleas, telling District Judge Wain: "I was not aware in any detail why I was sending it... from a moral perspective, that's not me."
He told the court that it meant that his career was now over.
Ed Ball, defending, said Ram had a "fogginess on what was what said" because of medication he had been prescribed.
"I give you no guarantee of the outcome but it's important that the court knows everything about you so it can properly and fairly sentence you," Ram was told.
"You have not been in trouble for the rest of your life. I very much hope we can meet for sentence without any new allegations."
