Arsenal’s Ben White and Newcastle United’s Harvey Barnes have been added to the England squad for the friendlies against Uruguay and Japan.
The pair will replace Eberechi Eze and Jarell Quansah, who have been ruled out of the internationals through injury. Barnes made his only appearance for the senior team in October 2020, while White has four caps to his name.
White has not played for his country since leaving England’s squad at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar for personal reasons after a rumoured falling-out with the then assistant Steve Holland, but is back in the frame after talks with Thomas Tuchel.
Barnes has been eyed by Scotland but looks to have nailed his colours to the England mast. England host Uruguay on Friday, followed by Japan on Tuesday at Wembley.
