Cardiff have plenty of room for growth - Colwill

Rubin Colwill believes Cardiff City have plenty of room for growth under Brian Barry-Murphy this season after starting their Championship campaign with a point against Wrexham.

Colwill netted a last-gasp free-kick to earn the Bluebirds a 1-1 draw with Phil Parkinson's side on Monday night.

Prior to the contest in the Welsh capital, boss Barry-Murphy spoke about his eagerness for Cardiff to prove their doubters wrong after they had been tipped by some to be relegated back to League One.

But on the back of gaining automatic promotion from the third tier last term, Wales international Colwill feels Cardiff must keep building on the foundations laid at the club during their successful 2025-26 campaign.

"We know what we're good at, the areas and the things we can do that can hurt teams," he said.

"We have a really big focus on what we can do and how we can keep improving, keep getting better and hopefully win a lot of games."

Colwill does not believe they need to change their approach for their return to the second tier.

"I think it's more about doing the same stuff but better," he added.

"I think you can sometimes think 'we need to do this, we need to do that', but I think we've shown what we are going to do to everybody out there.

"Everybody who comes and watches every week, you know what we're about now.

"But it's just fine-tuning that and getting better, more intense, more detail on the passes and just keep improving, keep getting better, which I think we've got a lot of work to do on and there's a lot of room for us to keep getting better."
